You may be referred by your GP, who will draw up a Mental Health Care Plan with you before you begin psychological therapy. This plan is reviewed regularly by your GP, while you continue to engage therapy.
Under the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative, you are entitled to an allowance of 10 individual psychological consultations per calendar year (January to December), should your condition/situation be deemed eligible by your referring GP.
We require all documentation from your GP before commencing psychological therapy (your Mental Health Care Plan and GP referral letter specifying the number of sessions for which you are being referred.)
You may also be referred by your psychiatrist through a letter of referral.
Telehealth
We understand that not everyone is able to attend face-to-face consultations, particularly if you are self-isolating, are compromised in your physical health, or live in a remote Australian location.
Our practice uses COVIU a simple-to-use, clinical video-call platform that is endorsed by the Australian Psychological Society and compliant with Australian standards for online security and encryption. We consider the privacy of your information seriously.
Fees and Rebates
The current fee for a standard 50-minute consultation is $240. Full payment is appreciated on the day of your consultation. EFTPOS facilities are available for your convenience.
With a Mental Health Care Plan or psychiatrist referral, you are entitled to a Medicare rebate of $137.05 per consultation.
Our standard fee is required to be paid in full before the Medicare rebate can be processed through our facility. Your out-of-pocket expense is $102.95.
Should you book an appointment without a GP Mental Health Care Plan or psychiatrist referral, you may be able to claim a private health fund rebate with your relevant level of cover for clinical psychology services through your Private Health Insurance provider.
HICAPS is available at our facility for immediate processing of your private health fund rebate.
Insurance Claims and Workers Compensation
Should you need psychological treatment following a motor vehicle injury or workplace incident, for which you have lodged an insurance or workers compensation claim, we are happy to talk you through the necessary requirements before proceeding.
